UK Social Enterprise Awards 2017

Thursday 23rd November was the date we had been looking forward to here at Book of You. We won our category (Tech For Good) at the Social Business Wales Awards held at the Llangollen Pavilion on 4th October and Kathy and Tom were then able to represent Wales at the UK finals.
The celebratory event was held at the stunning Royal Horticultural Halls in Westminster, a fantastic venue with plenty of opportunity to network with like-minded social entrepreneurs. The imaginative menu was supplied by Brigade, a social enterprise that works with those affected by homelessness, helping them to develop skills and motivation for work.
We were entered into Category 10 – Tech for Good: Technology Social Enterprise (Sponsored by Nominet Trust). The full list of nominees were Auticon, The Big Lemon, Brightside, Care Opinion, Cosmic, Book of You CIC and Instant Neighbour.
Celebrities who attended were Welsh actor Michael Sheen and comedians Aisling Bea and Chris Addison. It soon became clear that they weren’t simply there to help host the event but all had a genuine interest in social enterprises and were happy to chat in depth to all the businesses about the work that we do.
Our category was won by Cosmic and the overall UK Social Enterprise of the Year award went to Here.
It really was an inspirational evening and Book of You are really proud to have been there representing North Wales and being able to share the work we do with those living with dementia with a wider, UK audience.
