Book of You Successful in Santander Funding Bid

Book of You are excited to announce that we were successful in receiving funding from Santander recently as part of their Discovery Grants. This money will fund a project to take place across North East Wales, where our staff and volunteers will combine working with older people on our digital life story book app, with supporting ‘digital inclusion’. This will include specific skills to improve their independence alongside wellbeing and increased family contact/activities.
Those who will benefit are older people currently resident in North East Wales, including those who are lonely, isolated and also those living with dementia. Over the years, we have heard many say they are nervous of technology and our support groups will provide a safe, fun environment where they can learn about things that will bring enjoyment and benefit them financially.
We will specifically help support people with things to help them live independently for longer, for example online shopping, help them save money by showing them how to access the best online deals for fuel, etc and will show them various ways of connecting with family and friends wherever they are in the world (eg Book of You, email, Skype) whilst improving wellbeing. We will also cover tips on how to stay safe online.
This project will begin in May and if you would be interested in taking part as a participant or as a volunteer, please get in touch with kathy@bookofyou.co.uk for more details.
