NEW! Crowdfunder Campaign “Sit Down and Get It Down”

Today saw the launch of our Crowdfunder Campaign. Called ‘Sit Down and Get It Down’.

Book of You have been around as a community interest company since March 2015 and over the years we have helped a great many people create enjoyable, collaborative, multimedia life story books with our easy to use web app. Most of the work we do is supported by our wonderful team of Associate Staff and Volunteers who work with individuals, couples and groups, supporting them, teasing out the pleasurable memories and helping them create a valuable reminiscence or life story book which can be shared with loved ones, wherever they are in the world, and which will remain as a lasting legacy after they’ve gone.

We know that we are limited in the number of people we can help directly and yet because of the overwhelmingly positive feedback we receive and the social value we provide, we have been thinking of ways we can roll out what we do quickly and simply across the whole of the UK.

The ‘Sit Down and Get It Down’ campaign is aimed at the daughters, sons, nieces, nephews and grandchildren of older relatives. We want to create a countrywide campaign whereby they sit down and talk to their relatives and record the stories and memories that emerge from these conversations. They can of course use our Book of You web app, but that is just one way. They may prefer to use a memory box, record conversations using their smartphone, visit places that hold special memories or simply look through photograph albums or memorabilia and talk about them. There are so many different ways and of course, people can use a number of these together. The money raised by the Crowdfunder campaign will enable us to create exciting, easy to use, state of the art resources and help guides, and if we exceed our original target, we can extend this to providing free to attend training courses around the country where people can learn the art of reminiscing and life story work, everything that we currently do on a one to one basis.
