First Volunteer Training Day

Kathy undertook the first of our Volunteer Training Days yesterday at Canolfan Ni Community Centre in Corwen, funded by The Dulverton Trust. This was a very interesting group as they are already volunteers working with people who have dementia and they run a fortnightly Memory Lane Group. They were looking for something else to do with the members and thought Book of You would be perfect… and I agree! The day consisted of a Dementia Friends Awareness Session for those who needed it (some were already Dementia Friends) and after a lovely lunch from Mama Lou’s, they got stuck in to learning how to use the Book of You web app. Book of You training sessions are always good fun and we learn from each other when it comes to ideas of what to add into a book, expanding what ideas we can offer people in future sessions.

There are 2 further training sessions coming up if you are interested in volunteering with us. The first takes place at Birch House Business Centre, Hen Lon Parcwr, Ruthin on Friday 22nd July and the second at Rhyl Community Fire Station, Rhyl Coastal Road, Rhyl on Monday 25th July.
