Celebration Event marking the end of Santander and Burbo Bank Projects

We recently held an informal celebration event in Abergele to mark the end of two of our projects, funded by Santander and Burbo Bank.
The event took place at Canolfan Dewi Sant and certificates were given out by the Chief Executive of Age Connects North Wales Central, Alison Price. The Santander project was originally set up to benefit those people in the Denbighshire and Conwy area who were transitioning from independent living to a care home and we did help some of those, but also many others too.
A small buffet was provided and also our famous Book of You cupcakes, courtesy of Ayse Aydin. People were able to chat to others in a similar situation to themselves (both clients and carers) and during a group chat, it was suggested that people always feel a little sad when the sessions end as they feel they have formed a close bond with the staff/volunteers who’ve worked with them and we are now looking at ways to support groups where people who’ve taken part in these projects can continue to meet, socialise and help each other. It was wonderful once again to hear how much Book of You has meant to people – the different, creative ways people find to use it and how much our staff and volunteers have brought joy and happiness into people’s lives.
Moving forward, as well as expanding what we do across the UK, we are looking at different ways to offer Book of You to people in Bronze, Silver and Gold packages to suit individuals’ needs, so watch this space for more details.
